Who are we?
Mallaig Marine Training Centre delivers professional and flexible training and educational programmes geared towards both the Fishing Industry and the general Marine Industry.
We offer a wide range of courses for professional fishermen, for new entrants in the fishing industry and for people who are looking for general Marine Qualifications.
Mallaig Marine Training Centre always aims to deliver innovative programmes, which will not only assist the Fishing and Marine related Industries, but will also be of benefit to marine dependant Communities as a whole. We also provide lectures and educational programmes suitable for schools, colleges, universities, stakeholders in the Industry and general interested parties.
One of our most successful courses, which has become well recognised within the Fishing Industry, is the Basic Introduction to the Fishing Industry. Mallaig Marine Training Centre is the only Centre that offers this course, which is run in partnership with FITA (Fish Industry Training Association), and is unique in its nature on the West Coast of Scotland.
Mallaig Marine Training Centre has formal ties with Lochaber College, through which we are able to offer various SVQ qualifications.
MMTC is partly funded through European Structural Funds. Other contributors to our programme are Lochaber College, Lochaber Enterprise Company, Mallaig & North West Fishermen’s Association, Mallaig Harbour Authority, FITA and the Highland Council.
Most courses which are run through our project are offered free of charge. Please browse our site for all course information, and course costs, or contact us at:
