Basis Introduction to Commercial Fishing (jointly run with FITA)
Duration: 2 Weeks and 1 week work placement on fishing vessel - June and December
Who is it for: New entrants into the Fishing Industry.
What does it offer:
- 1 week of basic underpinning knowledge
- 1 week covering the four mandatory courses needed to go to sea: Sea Survival, Fire Fighting, First Aid, and Safety Awareness
- 1 week practical experience

Language Course for Foreign Fishermen
Duration: 5 Days - June
Who is it for: Foreign fishermen who need English skills.
What does it offer: The Course will provide foreign fishermen with enough language skills to be able to carry out basic duties on board the boat and will also put a lot of emphasis on health and safety issues.
The following subjects will be covered:
- Basic social English
- Terminology used for operating and working on Trawlers and Creel boats
- Terminology to be able to handle Medical Emergencies at Sea
- Terminology with regard to Fire Prevention and Control
- Terminology with regard to Safety Equipment and Survival Procedures
- This course will also include tuition in practical netmending, netconstruction, splicing and ropework

Course Description: This course is geared towards practising fishermen who would like to learn or improve their net mending and other associated skills.

MCA Boatmaster grade 1/2/3
Duration: 5 Days
Course Description: This is a Marine Coastguard Qualification allowing the holder to carry 12 fee paying passengers up to 15 miles form a nominated point of departure up to a maximum of 3 miles off shore. We can teach the candidates up to the level required. The candidate will be examined by an external MCA examiner.

Elementary Food Hygiene Certificate (REHIS)
Duration: 1 Day
Course Description: This course is intended for everyone who handles food hygiene issues including hazard analysis and provides the necessary knowledge and information needed to underpin good food safety practices. Successful course participants receive the REHIS Elementary Food Hygiene Certificate
